CSAC on Tour – Plymouth 2012

Our annual trip to Plymouth has just finished and its quite a let down after three days great diving out of Plymouth.  This year 6 of us attempted  a four day diving trip from Thursday – Sunday, with the rest of the group arriving Thursday night and Friday to fit in with work commitments. In total we had 20 divers across two hard boats.

Ocean Diver – Training Testimonial

Richard joined the club a few months back to start a BSAC Ocean diver course in preparation for a trip to the Maldives. He is what he said after completing the course and experiencing his first UK diving trip to Plymouth….

What a Summer !!!

What a month August has been, CSAC divers have been spotted in the Cocos Islands, deep inside the Zenobia (again), Chepstow and Wraysbury , reports to come soon but already looking forward to Plymouth in September…  24 divers and 2 hard boats plying the waves off Plymouth, can’t wait..

Also Nemo in Brussells, Channel diving, Thames and Swanage dives all still on the plan…

Congratulations to Nick, Richard, Martin and Craig for completing their Ocean Diver course!! Our trainers are having a rest for a few months after providing an accelerated course to get folks in the water  this year… Contact us at for details of the next course.

Olympic diving: Isle of Wight 28 July 2012

Ten CSAC divers (Adele, Chris, David, Dominic, Geoff, Len, Mark, Naomi, Nick, and Peter) travelled to Eastney near Portsmouth on Saturday 28 July.  After friendly welcome from Roy, skipper of Wight Diver, a safety briefing and a cup of tea!, we were off from the pier at 10.15.  Champagne diving conditions – calm and sunny up top and good vis down below.

Feast of St Peter Fair

Today we had our annual pitch at the local Chalfont St Peter Feast day, a major all day event attracting a wide cross section of the local community. Our goals : to tell folks that we are here, sell try dives and get new members.

Lundy 15 -17 June 2012

On Thursday evening, torrential rain driving down from Buckinghamshire to Ilfracombe in Devon was not an encouraging sign.  Previous trips to Lundy had been blessed with fantastic weather; in the wet “summer of 2012”, it was not looking good.  However the clouds parted and a blue sky greeted arrival to the Ilfracombe so hope was restored.  A visit to a CAMRA prize winning pub, with a tour of its offerings, put divers in a fine frame of mind.

Zenobia – Video

Diving the Zenobia, Cyprus, 1 – 5 June 2012

On Friday of the Queen’s Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, 8 CSAC divers and 4 non divers met at Heathrow Terminal 1 to check in for a Cyprus Air flight to Larnaca.

After a good flight and a short night’s sleep (Cyprus is 2 hours ahead), we assembled at Dive In Cyprus at 8am on bright and sunny Saturday morning.

Kids Try Dive night June 2012 ( 10-13yrs )

Five children had their first taste of Scuba diving tonight and they loved it ! All born naturals in the water unlike their decrepit parents ! James, Hugo, Charlie, Iona and Jennifer had a quick intro and started their 45 minute underwater adventure….

Littlehampton Training Dive – May 2012

Sunday 27th May – “Our Joy” out of Littlehampton. Ropes off at 7am.

Our first outing with “Our Joy” brought us back Littlehampton after a very long time. This trip was planned  as a shallow training dive for those on the recent Ocean Diver training course, so the boat was pretty much a split between trainers and trainees. After a couple of injuries over the previous weeks, we were down to 8 of us: David, Paul, John, Amy, Mark, Naomi, Chris and Sue.
